Death Penalty
Technically the Death Penalty exists, but it is generally not used at all.

Funeral Rites
In Laywenrania the death is seen as inevitable and part of the life and it's cycle. If a human beeing or loved animal deceases a funeral ceremony is held at the next weekend. The Ceremony is usually not organized by the nearest family members (spouse, children) but by close friends to relieve the mourning family. At the ceremony itself, the body is not displayed, as the death is seen as the last rest and displaying the body in public is seen as disturbance of it. During the ceremony the friends and family generally remember the good and funny times with the deceased. Commonly the favourite dish of the deceased is served.
As the ceremony is seen as the final parting from the deceased (there is no belief in a live after death, although it is said that loved ones reunite after death), it commonly lasts from early saturday to sunday. In the last hours of sunday, when the sunset begins, the body is carried into the forests and buried there or placed in a hut built next to a tree. The sunday is viewed as the last day in the cycle of a week and the sunset of sunday is the "death of the week".
An oak tree is planted ontop of the grave, except if the deceased was married. In this case the oak tree get's planted if the spouse also dies and is buried next to him/her. This also means that a funeral is not finished and the person can not rest until the oak tree is planted. Therefore it's one of the most crucial services of p.e. soldiers or other persons to bring back the body of the dead to Laywenrania. This also means that it is not acceptable to have a new partner after your spouse died. This can lead to complications in polygam marriages where this applies to all spouses.
