The primary responsibilities of the Ground Forces are the protection of the state borders, combat on land, the security of occupied territories, and the defeat of enemy troops. The Ground Forces must be able to achieve these goals both in nuclear war and non-nuclear war, especially without the use of weapons of mass destruction. Furthermore, they must be capable of protecting the national interests.

4. Weapons and Equipment

Almost all of the weapons which currently equip the ground forces are manufactured domestically. The new P-family of small arms did not completly replaced all of the older weapons

Small Arms

Name Picture Description
KM-87 combat knife
MPi P gas operated weapon, similar action principle to the AK family, equipped with BARS; field tests showed a high accuracy, great resistance against mud and dirt, great reliability and very good ergonomics, with folding stock
MPi Pk shorter variant of the MPi P
lMG P MG-version of the MPi P, with integral bipod, longer barre and a bigger magazine, can either use the magazines of the MPi P, magazines with 45 shots or can be belt-fed from a box
sMG P The sMG P machine gun was developed during late 1980s and early 1990s as a possible replacement for venerable Kalashnikov PKM (produced in Laywenrania as sMG K) general purpose machine gun
SKMG-1 heavy machine gun in 12,7x108mm calibre. It is a gas operated, air cooled, belt feed, automatic only, weapon. It uses a more or less conventional long stroke gas piston, located below the barrel which is locked using a rotary bolt with multiple lugs. The barrel is quick-detachable and is fitted with a highly effective muzzle brake
SSG P Designated marksman rifle. It's extremely reliable in all conditions (like all guns of the family) and operates semi-automatic. It uses a long-stroke gas piston and a rotating bolt with dual locking lugs.
APzW P

The APzW P multipurpose grenade launcher consists of a short, reusable launcher tube with grips, firing controls and sight mount, detachable collimating sight (usually a 2,7X sight) and disposable ammunition containers, which are pre-loaded at the factory and attached to the rear end of the launcher before firing. Once rocket is fired , the empty container is detached from the launcher and discarded. There are six types of rockets available for APzW P, three for each calibre: Tandem HEAT, HEAT and a FAE/Thermobaric rocket

AAPzW P The AAPzW P-01 is a man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank missile. It is a fire-and-forget missile with lock-on before launch and automatic self-guidance. The system takes a top-attack flight profile against armored vehicles (attacking the top armor, which is generally thinner), but can also take a direct-attack mode for use against buildings.
IPALR P The IPALR P ATGM system has a semi-automatic guidance system, with commands transmitted over a wire link. The guidance system is constructed so that the most sophisticated and costly components, such as a gyroscopic coordinator, electronic units and an onboard battery, are excluded from the missile.
LARA P The LARA P man portable air defence missile (MANPADS) system is designed for use against visible targets as tactical aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicle, cruise missile, head-on or receding, in the presence of natural (background) clutter and countermeasures.
DPi-3 The DPi-3 is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. It uses a modified Browning "High Power"-style locking, with the cammed slot under the barrel, that is used to lock and unlock the single lug on the barrel with the ejection window in the slide. The slide and frame are made from carbon steel, the barrel is made from stainless steel. The conventional DA trigger features an ambidextrous manual safety on the frame, that could lock the hammer either in lowered or in cocked position, allowing for "cocked and locked" mode carry.
EAPzW-28 handheld, disposable anti-tank rocket launcher, calibre of 125 mm, weight 12 kg
EAPzW-26 handheld, disposable, anti-tank rocket launcher, calibre of 75 mm, weight 3 kg
APzW P-29 anti-tank rocket launcher, the APzW P-29's PG-29V tandem-charge warhead is one of the few anti-tank weapons that can penetrate the frontal hulls of composite-armored main battle tanks. The RPG-29 is a shoulder-launched, unguided, tube-style, breech-loading anti-tank rocket system with a range of 500 meters. The light weapon is designed to be carried and used by a single soldier. On the top of the launch tube is a 2.7×1P38 optical sight.
MPi V compact, full automatic machine pistol, chambered for the 9×39mm subsonic round
PGW Timberwolf C14 bolt action sniper rifle, fires .338 Lapua Magnum
RGO   Defensive handgrenade, weight 520 g, 90 g RDX filler
RGN   Offensive handgrenade, weight 290 g, 97 g RDX filler
Mines   anti-tank and anti-personell mines of varying designs.

Armoured Vehicles

Name Picture Description
LKPz-82 The tank was developed as a replacement for the LKPz-50 in the 70s. It put emphasis on crew safety and a low profile. It had a very long design phase, especially because of the autoloader and the turret. In 1978, the first prototype was tested in the tank proving grounds and showed to have a very good mobility. In later tests, problems with the turret mechanism were revealed, which were solved in later prototypes. These prototypes proved to be very satisfactory and serial production was ordered, starting in 1982.
LKPz-92 The LKPz is a tank based on the LKPz-82 designed to counter modern threats on the battlefield, like irregular warfare and top-attacking ammunition while utilising many parts of the LKPz-82. It keeps distinctive featues like the unmanned turret, but replaces the autoloader with a bustle-mounted one.
LSPW-92 The SPz LSPW-92 is an IFV based on the finnish Patria AMV, built solely with laywenranian parts. The main feature of the LSPW is its modular design, which allows the incorporation of different turrets, weapons, sensors, or communications systems on the same carriage. Designs exist for an IFV version (infantry fighting vehicle), communications versions, ambulances and different fire support versions, armed with large caliber mortar and gun systems.

LSPz-92 The LSPz-95 is a native-made Laywenranian Infantry Fighting Vehicle currently in service with the Laywenranian Land Forces. it is based on the BMP-1, but features a longer hull and various other upgrades. The main feature of the LSPz is its modular design, which allows the incorporation of different turrets, weapons, sensors, or communications systems on the same carriage.
SFL-HB-130

wheeled self-propelled artillery piece, armed with 130 mm KH md.53, based on the chassis of a Tatra 813 or Tatra 815.

SPW-40P2M amphibious armoured patrol car, introduced in 1968, modernised in 1995, equipped with a 135 kW Diesel engine, six MB smoke grenade dischargers on the back of the turret, new wheels, OWS armed with a 25 mm cannon, GLONASS, sound absorption and modular armour
