The People's Republic of Laywenrania has two Intelligence Services, the civilian KfNS - Komitee für Nationale Sicherheit (Committee for National Security) and the military MilND (Militärischer Nachrichtendienst - military Intelligence Services).

KfNS

The Komitee für Nationale Sicherheit (Committee for National Security) is the principal security agency of the People's Republic Laywenrania. Its main responsibilities within the country include counter-intelligence, internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of grave crimes and law violations, including drug smuggling. All law enforcement and intelligence agencies in Laywenrania work under the guidance of the KfNS, if needed.

Under Laywenranian law, the KfNS is a military service just like the armed forces, the MdI and civil defence, commissioned officers usually wear military uniforms.

The HVA (Hauptverwaltung Aufklärung - Main Intelligence Directorate) is responsible for intelligence and espionage activities outside the People's Republic of Laywenrania. It works in cooperation with the MilND. The HVA is also authorized to negotiate anti-terrorist cooperation and intelligence-sharing arrangements with foreign intelligence agencies, and provides analysis and dissemination of intelligence to the Laywenranian president.

The HVA is authorized to:

  1. Conduct intelligence;
  2. Implement active measures to ensure Laywenrania's security;
  3. Conduct military, strategic, economic, scientific and technological espionage;
  4. Protect employees of Laywenranian institutions overseas and their families;
  5. Provide personal security for Laywenranian government officials and their families;
  6. Conduct joint operations with foreign security services;
  7. Conduct electronic surveillance in foreign countries.

MilND

The MilND is the foreign military intelligence main directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the People's Republic of Laywenrania. The MilND gathers human intelligence and maintains significant signals intelligence, imagery reconnaissance and satellite imagery capabilities.
