Infantry Weapons

Under the goal to get more independent from foreign supplies and technologoy, a new family of weapons was recently developed at the WATIK (Waffentechnisches Institut Kalimdra). The family consists out of a Machine Pistol (in western terminology it would qualify as an assault rifle), a Machine Gun and a Sniper Rifle, all chambered in a new 6x49 Caliber. The weapons family is modularly built, so many parts are interchangeable among each other. The family features rails for mounting additional equipment, like miscellaneous optics, flashlight, etc. All weapons feature a bajonet mount. They can fire in semi-automatic, 2-shot burst and full-automatic modes (only semi-automatic for SSG, only full automatic for MG). The buttstock is foldable, it is possible to fire and change the firing mode with folded buttstock. A cleaning kit is included in the handle, a cleaning rod in the forward grip. Field tests showed a high accuracy, great resistance against mud and dirt, great reliability and very good ergonomics. Like the basically all Laywenranian military products, the weapons show a very high quality. The magazine is transparent to allow the soldier to check his remaining ammo fast and safe.

Assault Rifle MPi P

The MPi P is a gas operated weapon with balanced action. It employs fairy conventional rotary bolt with dual locking lugs which is operated by long-stroke gas piston located above the barrel. To provide balancing action, a second gas piston is fitted in the front of the first one. When the gun is fired, the main gas piston moves rearwards, operating the bolt group, while the balancing piston moves in opposite direction, being synchronised to the main one via a simple rack and pinion system. In all other respects the MPi P is quite similar to the standard AK-74M assault rifle. It can be equipped with a 40 mm underbarrel grenade launcher (GP-25, GP-30 and Laywenranian ULGW-40) , which can fire standard soviet 40 mm grenades (VOG-25, VOG-25P, Gvozd).

Squad Machine Gun lMG P

This gun is belt fed, using specially designed, non-disintegrating proprietary steel belts with open pockets (push-through type), but can also use the magazines of the Mpi P. It is fitted with a polymer shoulder stock, pistol grip and folding bipod . It is equipable with the standard scopes and accessory of the Laywenranian Army.

The MG P is a gas operated, magazine fed, air cooled, selective fire weapon. The basic action, with a long-stroke gas piston located above the barrel and a rotating bolt, is similar to that of the MPi P. The trigger unit and safety is also the same, therefore the RPK fires from a closed bolt in both semi-automatic and automatic modes. The barrel is permanently fixed to the receiver and cannot be replaced in the field.
Ammunition feed is from magazines or from specially designed, non-disintegrating proprietary steel belts with open pockets (push-through type). The magazine interface is same as on the MPi P in the same caliber, and both magazines are interchangeable. However, the standard magazines for the MPi P are of extended capacity. Standard sights of the MG P are basically similar to that of the MPi P rifle, with hooded post front and tangent type rear sight, marked for ranges between 100 and 1000 meters. However, the MG P rear sight also includes a windage adjustment mechanism.
MG P machine guns are fitted with integral folding bipods made from steel stampings (concealed in the forward grip if folded). The polymer shoulder stock is of a special shape, which facilitates the proper hold for the non-firing hand.

  • Length: 950 mm
  • Weight with Bipod: 5,9 kg
  • Muzzle velocity: 1100 m/s
  • Rate of Fire: 700 rounds per minute

Machine Gun sMG P

The sMG P machine gun was developed during late 1980s and early 1990s as a possible replacement for venerable Kalashnikov PKM (produced in Laywenrania as sMG K) general purpose machine gun. It was designed at the WATIK. The "6mm unified" program commenced as an attempt to replace more than a century-old 7,62x54R rifle / machine gun cartridge with more modern round of ammunition, which would provide longer effective range, less  weight and recoil, and simpler design of the guns, due to its rimless case design. After significant research, developers at the WATIK produced a 6x49 'Unified' cartridge, which had rimless bottlenecked cartridge made of steel, and was loaded with pointed bullet weighting 5 gram. This cartridge is rather hot-loaded, delivering muzzle velocities in 1100-1150 m/s range. The 6mm sMG P has a effective range of up to 1,500 meters and is almost twice as accurate, compared to standard Kalashnikov PKM machine gun.

The 6 mm sMG P is a gas operated weapon, firing from open bolt in automatic mode only. It has a quick-detachable, air cooled barrel, with conventional rotary bolt locking. This gun is belt fed, using specially designed, non-disintegrating proprietary steel belts with open pockets (push-through type). It is fitted with a polymer shoulder stock of skeletonized design, pistol grip and folding bipod. It also features an integral telescope sight built into the top cover.

  • Length: 1150 mm
  • Weight with Bipod: 6,5 kg with bipod, 10 kg with tripod
  • Muzzle velocity: 1150 m/s
  • Rate of Fire: 700 rounds per minute

Sniper Rifle SSG P

The SSG P is a squad weapon, developed to extend the range of the infantry group. It's extremely reliable in all conditions (like all guns of the family) and operates semi-automatic. It uses a long-stroke gas piston and a rotating bolt with dual locking lugs. The Receiver is stamped from sheet steel, with machined trunnion pinned into its forward part and reinforcement plates pinned to its rear part. Feed is from proprietary detachable box magazines with 10-round capacity. The shoulder stock is made out of Polymer. Barrels are fitted with muzzle brake and bayonet mount; SSG P rifles are equipped with iron sights, with U-notch rear sight being adjustable for range between 100 and 1200 meters in 100-m increments, and a side rail for scope installation on the left receiver wall. SSG P rifles are issued with 4X GZO-4 telescope sights, which are comparable to the Soviet PSO-1 sight or with 7X GZO-7 sights. SSG P are equipped with a folding Bipod (concealed in the forward grip if folded).

  • Length: 985 mm
  • Weight with Bipod: 4,5 kg
  • Muzzle velocity: 1180 m/s

Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher AAPzW P-01

The AAPzW P-01 is a man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank missile. It is a fire-and-forget missile with lock-on before launch and automatic self-guidance. The system takes a top-attack flight profile against armored vehicles (attacking the top armor, which is generally thinner), but can also take a direct-attack mode for use against buildings. This missile also has the ability to engage helicopters in the direct attack mode. It can reach a peak altitude of 150 m in top-attack mode and 60 m in direct-fire mode. It is equipped with an imaging infrared seeker. The tandem warhead is fitted with two shaped charges: a precursor warhead to detonate any explosive reactive armor and a primary warhead to penetrate base armor.

The missile is ejected from the launcher so that it reaches a safe distance from the operator before the main rocket motors ignite; a "soft launch arrangement". This makes it harder to identify the launcher; however, back-blast from the launch tube still poses a hazard to nearby personnel. Thanks to this "fire and forget" system, the firing team may change their position as soon as the missile has been launched, or prepare to fire on their next target while the first missile is still in the air.

The missile system is most often carried by a two man team consisting of a gunner and an ammo bearer, although it can be fired with just one person if necessary. While the gunner aims and fires the missile, the ammo bearer scans for prospective targets, watches for threats such as enemy vehicles and troops, and ensures personnel and obstacles are clear of the missile's back blast.

  • Caliber: 140mm
  • Type: Anti-tank missile
  • Overall length: 1000 mm
  • Weight: 17,5 kg System; 11,4 kg Missile
  • Effective range: 75 - 2,5 km
  • Armour penetration: classified

Infantry Anti-Aircraft Rocket Launcher LARA P

The LARA P man portable air defence missile (MANPADS) system is designed for use against visible targets as tactical aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicle, cruise missile, head-on or receding, in the presence of natural (background) clutter and countermeasures. It is based on the foreign Igla. The LARA P features high effectiveness and increased range against small targets, such as cruise missile and remotely piloted vehicles. The LARA P is able to engage targets at night. The effectiveness of the missile against air targets is attributed to the increase weight of the explosive in the missile's warhead and to the impact/proximity fuze enabling the missile to kill the target both in the event of a direct hit and when it passes at a distance of up to 1,5 m from the target. The target engagement has increased to 6,5 km compared with the 5,2 km of the Igla system. Another feature is its multispectral optical seeker, using three sensors as opposed to the Igla-S' two. Cross-checking sensors against one another better discriminates between relevant targets and decoys, and decreases the chance of disruption from countermeasures, including lasers that attempt to blind missiles.

  • Caliber: 72mm
  • Type: rocket
  • Overall length: 1600 mm
  • Weight: 14 kg loaded
  • Weight Warhead: 2,5 kg
  • Effective range: 6 - 10 km
  • Warhead type : HE Fragmentation
  • Flight speed: 800 m/s

Heavy Machinegun SKMG-1

The SKMG-1 is a heavy machine gun in 12,7x108mm calibre. It is a gas operated, air cooled, belt feed, automatic only, weapon. It uses a more or less conventional long stroke gas piston, located below the barrel which is locked using a rotary bolt with multiple lugs. The barrel is quick-detachable and is fitted with a highly effective muzzle brake.
The belt feed uses steel, non-disintegrating belts. The standard feed direction is from the right, but the SKMG can be setup to feed from the left if required. Spent cases are ejected forward through a short tube pinned to the right side of the receiver.
The SKMG has no firing controls on the gun body, other than a firing lever and mechanical safety. Actual fire controls and charging mechanisms, be that a manual trigger with pistol grip and manual charging handle, or an electric solenoid trigger and pneumatic or electrical charging system, are installed on the mount. It's special feature is it's reduced recoil, which is rather low for a heavy machine gun. Because of that, it can use a rather light system of bipods and tripods.
The SKMG is used as infantry support, anti-air gun and as tank MG.
The SKMG-1 has iron sights as standard (hooded front post and tangent rear), plus a special rail on the left side of receiver, which can accept mountings for variety of telescopic or infrared sights.

  • Caliber: 12,7x108mm
  • Overall length: 1980 mm
  • Weight: 25 kg + 16 kg (tripod) or 7 kg (lightweight mount with bipod)
  • Rate of fire: 650-750 rounds/min
  • Muzze velocity: 860 m/s
  • Effective firing range: 2,1km

Pistol DPi-3

The DPi-3 is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. It uses a modified Browning "High Power"-style locking, with the cammed slot under the barrel, that is used to lock and unlock the single lug on the barrel with the ejection window in the slide. The slide and frame are made from carbon steel, the barrel is made from stainless steel. The conventional DA trigger features an ambidextrous manual safety on the frame, that could lock the hammer either in lowered or in cocked position, allowing for "cocked and locked" mode carry. There's no decocker, and additional automated safety is built into the system, that locks the firing pin when trigger is not pressed. The external hammer on production pistols is partially enclosed from the sides by the slide extensions, to facilitate snag-proof handling. Front sight is machined with the slide, rear sight is dovetailed into the same. Both sights feature green tritium-filled "night" sights. Wrap-around grip panels are made from polymer, and the grip is provided with the lanyard ring. Button-operated magazine release is located at the base of the triggerguard, and can be mounted on either side of the frame, depending on the user preferences (easily re-installed by the user itself in a minute). Dual stack magazines are made from steel and hold 18 rounds of 9x21mm ammunition, plus one in chamber.

  • Caliber: 9x21mm
  • Overall length: 192 mm
  • Weight: 625 g (unloaded)

Infantry ATGM IPALR P

The IPALR P is designed to augment the combat power of company-level motorized units. The system adds to the usual positive qualities of a man-portable anti-tank guided missile with significant improvements in range, accuracy and lethality. Owing to the small dimensions and light weight of its components, this manportable system can be carried by its crew in compact packs over any distance and over a wide variety of terrain types, including stream crossing. The three-man crew carries personal weapons and an ammunition load of five missiles. One crew member carries a pack with a missile-loaded launcher, which considerably reduces the time of fire preparation and allows the crew to engage targets whilst moving. In the event of sudden appearance of a target, the operator can fire from the shoulder with the launcher rested against a local object. Two other crew members carry packs with two missiles each.

The IPALR P ATGM system has a semi-automatic guidance system, with commands transmitted over a wire link. The guidance system is constructed so that the most sophisticated and costly components, such as a gyroscopic coordinator, electronic units and an onboard battery, are excluded from the missile.

  • Caliber: 130 mm
  • Overall length: 980 mm
  • Weight: 13 kg
  • Effective range: 0,08 - 2 km
  • Armour penetration: beyond 900 mm RHAe after ERA

Shotgun KS P

The KS P inherited the basic design of the MPi P, with long piston stroke gas system, rotating bolt with two massive lugs, and box magazine feeding.

As said above, the KS P is basically similar to the MPi P assault rifle, but with obvious exceptions. First, it is restricted to the semi-automatic fire only. Second, the receiver and the bolt group were redesigned to accommodate large, rimmed shot shells. Third, magazine capacity was limited to 5 or 8 rounds in the single stack plastic box magazines. Gas system is fitted with gas regulator with "standard" and "magnum" settings, and this shotgun can fire either 3 inch magnum or 23/4 inch standard loads interchangeably. Standard open sights were replaced by the short shotgun rib on the top of the gas tube. Optional side mounts for red dot sights are available. Barrel is equipped with screw-on choke system.

In general, the KS P shotgun is a reliable and effective close combat weapon.

  • Caliber: 12 Ga, 76 mm(3") chamber
  • Overall length: 910 / 670 mm
  • Weight: 3,5 kg (unloaded)
